The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
