The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
