Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
