The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right hand; 38
