He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
