The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
