Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
