The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Successful indeed are the believers 1 those who are humble in their prayer; 2 those who turn away from all that is frivolous; 3 and who are intent on inner purity; 4 and restrain their carnal desires 5 [not giving way to their desires] with any but their spouses - that is, those whom they rightfully possess [through wedlock]: for then, behold, they are free of all blame, 6 As for those who seek beyond that, they are transgressors" 7 And those who fulfil their trusts and keep their promises; 8 to their promise, 9 Those are the inheritors 10 Those who will get the inheritance of Paradise; they will abide in it forever. 11 We created the human from an essence of clay: 12 Thereafter We made him of a sperm in a receptacle safe. 13 The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. 14 Then lo! after that ye surely die. 15 Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection ye are raised (again). 16 We have created seven heavens above you and have never been neglectful to Our Creation. 17 And We sent down out of heaven water in measure and lodged it in the earth; and We are able to take it away. 18 We have established for you gardens of palm trees and vineyards with this water with many fruits for you to consume. 19 And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters. 20 In the cattle, too, is a lesson for you. We let you drink of that which is in their bellies, and there are many benefits in them for you, and you eat of them, 21 and are carried on them and also on ships. 22
