[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 175
