The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And couches raised up. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
