The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 a written record, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
