The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
