Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 and raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
