The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
