He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
