The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
