The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And no trifle. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore give them some respite - give them some time. 17
