And (remember) Noah, when he supplicated to Us, We answered him, and We saved him and his nation from great distress, 76 and We helped him against a people who rejected Our signs as false. They were indeed an evil people and so We drowned them all. 77 David and Solomon were trying to settle the case of the people's sheep that grazed in a corn-field at night. We witnessed their decree in that matter. 78 for, [though] We made Solomon understand the case [more profoundly] yet We vouchsafed unto both of them sound judgment and knowledge [of right and wrong]. And We caused the mountains to join David in extolling Our limitless glory, and likewise the birds: for We are able to do [all things]. 79 It was We Who taught him the art of making coats of mail for your benefit so that it may protect you from each other's violence. Do you, then, give thanks? 80 And unto Solomon (We subdued) the wind in its raging. It set by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And of everything We are Aware. 81 And of the devils were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian. 82 ۞ When Job prayed, "Lord, I have been afflicted with hardships. Have mercy on me; You are the Most Merciful of those who have mercy, 83 "We answered his prayer, relieved him from his hardships, brought his family (back to him) and gave him twice as much property as that (which was destroyed). It was a mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers. 84 And Isma'il and ldris and Zul-Kifl! each were of the patient. 85 And We brought them in unto Our mercy. Lo! they are among the righteous. 86 And Zun-nun! recall what time he departed in anger and imagined that We could not straiten him, then he cried in the darknesses, that: there is no god but Thou! hallowed be Thou! verily I have been of the wrong-doers. 87 We heard his prayer and saved him from grief. As such We shall save the believers. 88 AND [thus did We deliver] Zachariah when he cried out unto his Sustainer: "O my Sustainer! Leave me not childless! But [even if Thou grant me no bodily heir, I know that] Thou wilt remain when all else has ceased to be!" 89 So We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife fit for him; surely they used to hasten, one with another In deeds of goodness and to call upon Us, hoping and fearing and they were humble before Us. 90 And she who guarded her virginity, so We breathed into her of Our spirit and appointed her and her son to be a sign unto all beings. 91 Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me. 92 And they have broken their religion (into fragments) among them, (yet) all are returning unto Us. 93
