Have you seen the one who turned away 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
