Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
