The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
