The people of Lot cried lies to the Envoys 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 Do you, in the world, want to have carnal relations with males 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
