The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
