The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
