The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
