The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Woe to every slanderer, defamer, 1 who amasses wealth and counts it over and again. 2 Does he think that his wealth will prolong his stay on earth forever? 3 Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One. 4 And what could make thee conceive what that crushing torment will be? 5 The fire of Allah, that is ablaze. 6 which will rise over the [guilty] hearts: 7 it closes in on them from every side 8 In extending columns. 9
