Nay, and by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 As a warning unto men, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
