The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a mighty Day. 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
