Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 to be a herald of glad tidings as well as a warning. And yet, [whenever this divine writ is offered to men,] most of them turn away, so that they cannot hear [its message]; 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 The righteously striving believers will have a never-ending reward". 8
