Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
