The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading. 1 Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 And never have We destroyed any community [for its wrongdoing] unless a divine writ had [previously] been made known to it; 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)! 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved. 8 We have sent down this Exposition, and We will guard it. 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 And not an apostle came unto them but at him they were wont to mock. 11 Even so we make a way for it in the hearts of the culprits. 12 they do not believe in it. This has been the wont of people of this kind from ancient times. 13 Though We opened to them a gate in heaven, and still they mounted through it, 14 they would still say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. We are bewitched." 15
