The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 unswerving. To warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 Wherein they will abide for ever; 3 And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." 4 They do not have any knowledge of it – nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Thou wouldst only, perchance, fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message. 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 And most surely We will make what is on it bare ground without herbage. 8 Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news or the names of the people of the Cave) were a wonder among Our Signs? 9 Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!" 10 We then thumped upon their ears in the Cave for a number of years. (* Put them to sleep.) 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
