Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 Abraham asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 "And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised." 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 "Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
