Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
A. L. M. 1 Those are the verses of the Wise Book, 2 A guidance and a mercy for the well-doers: 3 who perform the prayer, and pay the alms, and have sure faith in the Hereafter. 4 These are on guidance from their Lord, and these! they are the blissful ones. 5 But among men there is many a one that prefers a mere play with words [to divine guidance,] so as to lead [those] without knowledge astray from the path of God, and to turn it to ridicule: for such there is shameful suffering in store. 6 When Our verses are recited to him, he turns his back in pride, as though he never heard them, and in his ears was heaviness. Give glad tidings to him of a painful punishment! 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have gardens of bliss, 8 therein to dwell forever -- God's promise in truth; and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise. 9 He has created the heavens without any pillars, that you see and has set on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving (living) creatures of all kinds. And We send down water (rain) from the sky, and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein. 10 Such is the Creation of Allah: now show Me what is there that others besides Him have created: nay, but the Transgressors are in manifest error. 11
