He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
