The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
