1/2 Hizb 35
< random >
O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Deem they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We enlarge them. 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Surely those who stand in awe for fear of their Lord, 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do. 63 To the extent that when We seized the wealthy among them with punishment, they immediately began imploring. 64 We shall tell them, "Do not cry for help on this day; you will receive none from Us". 65 My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Have they not pondered the Word, or hath that come unto them which came not unto their fathers of old? 68 Or is it that they did not recognise their Noble Messenger, therefore they consider him alien? 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path. 74 ۞ And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We seized them with the punishment, but they did not surrender to their Lord, nor will they humble themselves 76 Until when We open upon them a door of severe chastisement, lo! they are in despair at it. 77
