Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 Moses said: "(He is) Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore." 26 Fir'awn said: verily your apostle who hath been sent unto you is mad. 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 Fir'awn said: if thou wilt take a god other than me, I shall surely place thee among the prisoners. 29 He said: even though I bring unto thee something manifest? 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
