۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
