The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
