The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
