The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the setting star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
