HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the unseen, thus, he sees (all things)? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Will you, then, wonder at this? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
