Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
