And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
