Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
