The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great event, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
