The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
