A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow that which is sent down to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians other than Him; little do you remember. 3 And a great number of towns (their population) We destroyed (for their crimes). Our torment came upon them (suddenly) by night or while they were sleeping for their afternoon rest. 4 Yet their cry, when Our punishment came to them, was nothing but that they said: Surely we were unjust. 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 And the weighing on that Day is certain, then whosesoever balances will be heavy, those! they shall fare well. 8 and those whose scales are light will be the losers, for they, are the ones who have been unjust to Our signs. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
