۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They said, “We found our forefathers worshipping them.” 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said, "Then bring him here in the sight of all the people, so that they may act as witnesses." 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
